Drive home, no stars
The road curves and rises up to meet the headlights of your car as you drive home. It is a dark night and there are no stars. They are hidden behind a curtain of clouds and fog slowly seeps out from between the trees crowding the road’s edge; all in a seeming effort to obscure the dark road’s surface even further from your headlights. You depress the gas pedal a little more and lean into the next curve. Driving home faster, but not really caring about when you get there.
